Absolutely, Reiki moves through time and space. This is something that is learnt in Reiki Level 2. Because of the Law on Correspondence that supports the movement of energy through time and space, which states that energy flows with intention. As the intention is set and the symbols that allow reiki to move through time and space, the attunement can be sent to a participant that is not in the same room as the Reiki Master. Several hundreds of thousands of anecdotal case studies can prove this to be true. Including many of the past students that have learnt from me.

Every Reiki training has a specific attunement to integrate the energetic codes of Reiki to support you in channeling the Reiki energy, with every attunement you receive you gain greater connection to this ability to channel energy.

Yes!! Some schools of thought suggest that the attunement must be done in person. Because there is no governing body yet created that mandates a specific way of learning Reiki, there is room for the evolution of original teachings, which suggested that Reiki symbols are sacred and not not to be shared to anyone that is not attuned to the Reiki Energy. These old ways that Reiki were taught have naturally evolved as we in society have. And some teachers and associations and texts may disagree with my standpoint. The evolution in this space is our ability to connect more easily with one another around the world and I believe we have a responsibility to share the gifts and tools that help us. And luckily Reiki is something that you can share through space and it is with great joy and honour to share these teachings and healing modality with people around the world because of our evolution around the world.

If you want to be associated with a Reiki Association, because you feel it benefits you to do so, you will want to learn Reiki in person. However, at this point it is not mandatory (at least in Canada) to be apart of an association to use Reiki for personal or professional reasons.

There are many reasons people decide to be apart of associations, many professions mandate it. However, because Reiki is not a regulatory health care practice you are not required by the government (of CANADA) to be apart of an association because there isn’t a Governing Association. However, the Canadian Reiki Association, is a great resource, to find teachers and practitioners. Some people feel that being associated with an organization legitimizes their qualifications. Others feel it is supportive for creating community, gaining further education and networking.
